Oasis of the Seas |
The
Oasis of the Seas made history when she was completed in 2009 as the largest and longest passenger vessel ever built. Carrying over 6000 passengers and being over 225,000 gross tons, she is an impressive sight to see.
Royal Caribbean is known for pushing the limits when it comes to building ships. In 1999 the
Voyager of the Seas was completed, and became the first ship to have an ice rink, rock climbing wall, and promenade including shops and a cafe. The Oasis includes all of these features plus much more.

Oasis of the Seas - Central Park |
The ship is divided into seven different neighborhoods so the ship doesn't feel so massive. The Boardwalk draws inspiration from ocean-side getaways, and features a merry-go-round as well as shops with ice cream and candy. Central Park is just that...a park in the middle of the ship. Paths twisting through the garden lead to a cafe as well as several restaurants to dine at. In the middle of the park is the rising tide bar which moves up and down from Central Park to the Royal Promenade. This area includes the majority of shops, and even has a Coach store. The other neighborhoods are made up of the impressive gym/spa area, an out-of-this-world children's zone, the sports deck (including the Flowriders which let you surf on a ship as well as zip lining), and the entertainment area.

Allure of the Seas |
In December of 2010 Royal Caribbean will be introducing the second ship of the Oasis-class: the Allure of the Seas. The Allure is very similar to the Oasis, but there are a few small changes. The Seafood Shack (which cost $8.95 per adult) from the Oasis will be replaced with the no cost Boardwalk Dog house that sells different sausages and brats. Also, the ice cream parlor will be replaced with Rita's Cantina, a Mexican restaurant and bar. On the Royal Promenade a new store will be added- the first Guess store at sea. The main theater of the Allure will be equipped to handle 3-D movies (the Oasis will be 3-D equipped by spring of 2011). The acrobatic show on the Allure will be different, and the musical will be "Chicago" instead of "Hairspray" as on the Oasis. Another big feature will be the addition of iPod docks to all of the cabins.
